Why Psychotherapy?
Reasons that bring a person to psychotherapy might be an
on-going difficulty that has escalated beyond what's
bearable; a relationship has broken down; shocking and
unexpected news has been received; ill-health or a life
threatening disorder has been diagnosed (yourself or
someone close to you); or perhaps, new opportunities are
presenting themselves that need to be mulled over and
reflected upon.
Therapy is an opportunity to inquire into the nature of your
distress, whatever the source might be, to have it held
without judgement and to gradually move towards an easier
relationship with it.
An inquiry into states of mind such as:
a sense of loss;
overwhelming sadness;
fearfulness;
disappointment;
feeling abandoned, rejected;
grief;
anxiety;
jealousy;
anger;
low self esteem;
a need to take stock;
despair;
feeling isolated;
depression;
self loathing, shame;
